Many tests have taken place in order to test corrosion resistance of metals. A Copper accelerated salt spray test or CASS Test is used for evaluating the corrosion resistance of the material, especially for aluminium alloys. Used to measure resistance strength of chromium plating visible on steel and zinc die castings towards corrosive attack. Earlier this testing method was used to evaluate decorative coatings constituting of nickel, copper or chromium that was electrodeposited onto the metal's surface. A reagent of grade copper chloride is added to the solution. This solution is then sprayed in the chamber utilising an atomizer post mixing, and the chamber’s temperature is kept at 490°C. The fog is then accumulated, tested for the pH level which is to be kept between 3.1 and 3.3.
