Ensure Safety of Packages During the Free Fall Using Drop Tester

Packaging can be done in two ways, one is primary packaging, and the next is secondary packaging. In Primary packaging, the product remains in direct contact with the product, and the secondary is used to pack the primary packing for transit and storage. Secondary packing is done to keep the consignment safe from external factors. If this packing fails, there are huge chances of product failure. To avoid such situation, carton manufacturers must perform back-to-back testing on corrugated boxes. As the boxes are used during transit from various industries, they require a reliable source of packaging that can be ideal in any situation.

At the time of transit or handling, a box falls from the height, which cannot be predicted whether it deforms, breaks, or survive the fall. To test the package, drop the box from the height to test the behaviour. A drop tester is used to perform this testing. Package Drop Tester comes with a movable platform that can take the box of up to 60 kg of weight to a certain height. The platform consists of two plates that open when operated from a wired remote. As the plates open, the sample falls freely on the ground. The apparatus removes human interference from the whole test process and gives accurate test results.

The drop test procedure is defined under international standards. The maximum height that can be tested on this machine is 60 kgs. This examines the behaviour of the box in case of mishandling. If a carton falls freely on the floor, it can fall on its edges, on a flat face, or in its corner. Therefore, when the test is performed, the actual scenarios are considered, and box is made to fall on different angles. To get the actual result, the intended content can be packed inside and then the test is conducted. The observations are made visually as it does not show any numeric value. The box either passes the test or fails, with a certain level of tolerance. Box drop Tester with a wired remote to conduct the test process completely unmanned.
