Testing the Bursting Strength

To test the bursting strength of the fabrics, there is an instrument used called bursting strength tester. The instrument is used for testing a small piece of specimen that is held under a serrated clamp. The force is applied on the specimen in vertical direction using a hydraulic mechanism. Heavy fluids such as glycerine are used for creating the required pressure on the specimen. The force is applied on the specimen until it burst and the magnitude of force applied is displayed on the digital screen of the instrument. This makes it easy and clear to get the test results with great accuracy.

One thing that needs to be kept in mind while performing the test is that the procedure should be followed according to the ASTM standards and also the testing instruments follows the ASTM prescription.
