Ensure Best Performance of your Products with Impact Resistance Testing

Impact resistance is one of a vital property of any industrial material or component that is subject to heavy impacts during usage. Plastics, polymers and metal components are highly prone to high impacts and can be easily damaged due to such impacts. It is important to ensure that the materials are tested roughly for their strength and impact resistance to ensure that they will be able to bear such high impacts and will survive for a longer service time. Proper testing of the materials with proper testing instrument needs to be done by the manufacturers for estimating the impact resistance of the materials accurately.

The IZOD Charpy Test methods are widely used testing methods that have prescribed in international quality standards to measure the impact resistance of materials such as metals, plastics and other. IN both the methods, the test apparatus is the same which is an IZOD Charpy tester that has an indenter that makes the impact on the specimen. The main difference between the two test methods is the size of the specimen, orientation of the specimen and shape of the notch that is made on the specimen. In both the test methods, the purpose of the impact is to bring the specimen to crack or failure. This way, it is determined how much of stress can the specimen can take.
