Measure MFI of Thermoplastic Polymers for Its Quality in Production

With the huge usage of plastics in the industrial applications, it has become one of the most inevitable parts of manufacturing that the quality of these products need to be taken seriously. There is a variety of plastics that are used in industries, out which thermoplastic is the most widely used in the industries as well as domestic front. Thermoplastics are polymer substances that form the largest part of all consumed polymers that are used for the production of consumer goods. Thermoplastics have good properties and their production costs are comparatively low. Due to simple production and small amounts of energy required, it is easy to process conventional thermoplastics that make up 4/5 of all plastics that are manufactured worldwide.

Melt Flow Index TesterMelt Flow Index(MFI) is an evaluation of thermoplastic polymers and its melt flow properties. It is calculated in the form of polymer weight in grams that flows in a time period of ten minutes through a capillary of a specific diameter and by a specific amount of pressure applied using alternative gravimetric weights in defined temperature. The measurement is the MFI value that is used for further quality measurement of the product. The test is conducted using a plastic granule testing instrument like Melt Flow Index Tester.

For a Melt Flow Index Tester manufacturer in India, it is fast quality control machines that save time and deliver high standard test results across the globe. The Melt Flow Index Testing of a polymer measures the basic property using melt flow test i.e. the melt viscosity or the flow resistance of the polymer at specific shear stress and temperature. The melt flow rate (MFR) indicates the average molecular weight and is inversely related to it. A resin with an MFR of 50g/10min indicates a lower molecular weight than one with an MFR of 10g/10min. The higher MFR material is an easy process, physical properties related to molecular weight like impact resistance are lower.

The MFI Testing Machine is used to measure and control the quality of polymer or thermoplastics used in the production. Using this tester, MFI value, Melt Flow Volume (MFV) and MFR can be calculated. These values are used in the most consistent method to evaluate the molecular weight of plastics that are connected to polymer performance. It allows performing quality control of raw material along with the finished product.

MFI Testing Machine by Pacorr is designed for accurate measurement of MFR/MFI/MFV of molten plastics or granules. It can be calculated by conducting a standardised test method. The method includes passing the plastic granules via a die that has a specific dimension in length and diameter. The test needs a particular pressure and temperature with the ideal position of a piston in a cylindrical container inside a heated barrel. This pressure or shear force is achieved with the help of dead weights that are provided with the machine. The machine is made from the best quality of materials that allows the users to use it even in the most extreme working conditions.
