Uses of Corrugated Box in Our Day To Day Life

Originally, the corrugated box and carton were used for packaging glass and pottery. It is made from a fluted corrugated or ribbed sheet with one or two flat linerboards. The fibreboard is over 0.01” thick. Corrugated cartons have wide variety of uses to meet the demands of packaging like ice cream boxes, corrugated shipping boxes, corrugated paper rolls, pizza boxes, duplex carton boxes, vegetable boxes, rectangular corrugated boxes, automobile corrugated boxes, mono cartons, printed shoe boxes, food boxes, heavy duty boxes, and paper boxes.

Box Compression TesterCorrugated boards have their usage in various industries for packaging since centuries. It has many forms and sizes. Corrugated board is made from by packing corrugated flutes in liner board. This structure can be multi-layer along with better shock absorption and structural strength. Properties of corrugated boards make them perfectly appropriate for packings. They can be shaped in various sizes and shapes, they are lightweight, less expensive and recyclable. There are many benefits of using corrugated cartons, such as lightweight nature, strength and sturdiness, economical, flexibility, eco-friendly, customisable etc. Machines such as edge crush tester, puncture resistance tester, Box Compression Tester, Cobb size tester, have wide variety of usage.

It is important to test the capability of corrugated packing so that it can bear shocks to some extent. It helps in providing care instructions to the carrier company. Various types of papers used to manufacture CFBs are:

  • Waste-Based: It is composed of recycled paper. At the time of processing, a chemical is used to give strength and aesthetic characteristics.
  • Kraft Paper: Composed of from virgin fibre with the help of soft woods of sustainable forests. It is processed with the help of sulphate. Due to its high bursting strength and virgin properties, frequently used in making liner boards.
  • Test Paper: Test paper is manufactured in 3 grades, Grade 1: It has a high amount of virgin fibre on the outer surface of the recycled fibres. Grade 2: It comprises of recycled fibre. Grade 3: It is composed of recycled fibres and used in flutes.
  • Semi-Chemical: It consists of high quantity of virgin fibre taken from hardwoods. It is processed with neutral sulphite. The semi-chemical board has high strength and highly tolerable to damp conditions.

However, there are specific tests that are conducted directly on the corrugated board, while some are conducted on the final corrugated box. These devices are used for testing the strength of the box. For more information about Corrugated Box Testing please mail to us at info@pacorr.com.
