Considering this need of the market and the manufacturers, a Universal Tensile Testing Machine - Computerized (UTM) has been designed. This single machine which comes in a computerised version can deliver multiple quality inspection evaluations for iron, metal products and even rubber or a polymer. It can test a variety of physical properties of a product including the tensile strength or the ability of a product to stretch to the level where It breaks, compression strength or the point at which the product will crush under increasing vertical load. Along with this, the machine can also help the user to evaluate hardness and much more. When users can test both the tensile and compression strength in one common machine they get the freedom not to invest in multiple testing equipment. Also, these two parameters correlate with each other when one is tested in a machine and another is tested in a different machine the results can vary and in a combination can create a disturbance of the product quality and can also interfere in deciding what needs to be improved in the product. The instrument comes with both a fixed and a movable clamp jaw to hold specimens. These jaws are extensively serrated and provide a very firm grip. The test values recorded are shown on the digital display of the instrument.

The machine comes with computer software that can be installed on any system and helps in conducting the test procedure but also records the test data so that accurate analysis can be performed. The instrument has a rugged design and is made with the best quality materials and hence is capable of giving a long service life.  It has an auto-tare facility that sets the value on the display to zero assuring precision at every test cycle. It also has a peak hold value and a memory of holding the top 10 test values in the digital display for future reference.
