Core Plug Testing Instruments
A core plug is used to allow water room to increase whenever it is freezed, thereby avoiding breaking the engine block or cylinder heads. It is mainly constructed from aluminium, steel, brass where core plug is driven into position with a blunt driving tool and held in place with a thin layer of adhesive or sealant. The thin piece of metal in cup or dish shape is used to block off a hole or some form of opening on an engine block made during the manufacturing process. Many varieties of core plug are welch plug, freeze plug and expansion plug. Core plugs are fitted in all diesel and petrol automotive, marine, and industrial engines. Lack of antifreeze in the coolant causes the core plugs to get corroded from inside of the engine.
