Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) is a thermoplastic manufactured by chlorinating polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin. A few of its weight comes from salt extracted from sea water which is most abundant resources, and a few is derived from petroleum resources. Plastics account for 3 percent of the consumption of fossil fuels such as petroleum, coal and natural gas. CPVC is made from by-products resulting from refining petroleum. CPVC can be recycled during the manufacturing process as drainage piping or window profiles. It is mainly used for floor fillings, floor coatings, cable trays, speed bumps and car mats. CPVC pipes are safe and consume lower energy while producing fewer green house emissions than other piping materials.
