Epoxidized Soyabean Oil (ESO) is a non-toxic yellow liquid used as stabiliser and plasticizer in plastic materials especially for PVC. ESO is also used as pigment dispersing agent and scavenging agent along with reactive diluent. ESO is readily available and low-cost vegetable oils and is industrially available in large volume at a relatively low price.ESO is a cost-efficient for a several applications that includes functional fluids, flavor and fragrances, sealants, coatings, and special inks.Plasticizers are largest application of ESO. They are the colorless and odorless chemicals mainly phthalate esters, used to enhance the elasticity of polymers mainly polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Plasticizers are also used in paints, rubber products, adhesives & sealants, printing inks and so on. Without the use of plasticizers in PVC applications, it will be rigid and can be used in limited applications such as wastewater pipelines. However, the use of plasticizers in PVC magnifies its use in wide variety of applications.
