Polybutylene Terephthalate Testing Instruments
Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is a thermoplastic engineering polymer that is used as an insulator in the electrical and electronics industries. PBT is resistant to solvents, shrinks very little during forming, is mechanically strong, heat-resistant and can be treated with flame retardants to make it non-combustible. Polybutylene terephthalate is used for housings in electrical engineering, automotive construction as plug connectors and in households such as in showerheads or irons. It is also found processed into fibres in toothbrushes, false eyelashes and is used in some high-end computer keyboards because the texture is highly resistant to wear and discolouration due to UV radiation. PBT can also be made into yarn. Due to its chlorine resistance, it is found in swimwear. PBT has made its place in end-markets like automotive, consumer goods as well as electrical and electronics. Polybutylene Terephthalate protects electrical and electronic components with extremely high electrical resistance and high dielectric strength that ensure safety against leakage and breakdown in power circuitry.
